ALLEN

Following an extensive three-year search for a new CEO, Dufresne-Henry Inc., an engineering firm based in N. Springfield, Vt., has hired Richard K. Allen to fill the post. He assumed the role of CEO from retiring CEO and president Gerard Conklin in late February 2005. Conklin has headed the firm for the past 20 years and will continue as chairman of the board of directors. In May, Allen also was elected to serve as president of the company. For the past 17 years, he has been an attorney, serving most recently as chairman of design and construction law practice at Gadsby Hannah LLP. Allen also is a former employee of Dufresne-Henry. He worked for several years as a civil engineer in the 1970s and for the past four years has served on the board of directors.

JONES

Robert S. Jones has been elected president and CEO of Creegan + D'Angelo, C+D Consulting Civil & Structural Engineers, headquartered in San Jose, Calif. He will replace 41-year firm veteran Larry Turl, now chairman of the board who served 17 years as president. Jones previously was senior vice president and chief operating officer.

North Reading, Mass.-based Columbia Construction Co., a construction management firm, has hired Jim Kolb as a vice president. Prior to joining the firm, he had been a senior vice president in the Boston office of Skanska USA Building.

RODEN

HDR Engineering Inc., an architectural, engineering and consulting firm, Omaha, Neb., has named Laurie Roden as president of its construction services subsidiary, HDR Construction Control Corp. She was vice president and manager of construction services for the western U.S. region. William Raleigh has been promoted to executive vice president and director of HDR’s West Region. He was Northwest senior operations manager. Rick Vensas moves up to executive vice president and director of the Central Region. He formerly served as Texas senior operations manager. William Wadsworth, a senior operations manager for the Southeast, becomes executive vice president and director of the East Region.

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, a consulting engineer, based in Sparks, Md., has hired Michael C. Hild as a vice president to manage its Mid-Atlantic area projects. Previously, he was director of engineering for the Maryland Port Administration.

MURPHY

Patrick J. Murphy Jr. has been promoted to president of Murphy Co., a St. Louis, Mo.-based mechanical contractor. He was senior vice president of sales and marketing, leading the firm’s business development initiatives in all markets served by the company. Since 2000, he also has served on the board of directors.

Allied North America, a risk and insurance brokerage firm for the construction industry, has appointed Lauren M. Gregory senior vice president/risk management specialist. She will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Jericho, N.Y. Prior to joining Allied, she spent 22 years at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York, where she most recently held the position of director of risk and insurance management.

GREEN

San Francisco-based URS Corp., an engineering, architecture and construction firm, has named Ronald F. Green as a senior vice president of URS and chairman of its subsidiary, Advatech LLC. Advatech is a joint venture with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Green will be based in Charlotte, N.C. He most recently was senior vice president of U.S. Enrichment Corp. Inc. Prior to that, he worked for FPL Group as president of the group engineering and construction division. Advatech was launched in 2002 and provides advanced flue-gas desulfurization proprietary technology for sulfur dioxide emissions control, along with full-service engineering, design and construction services for the power market.

AMIRKHALILI

Reza Amirkhalili has been named chief operating officer of Hanscomb Faithful & Gould, a construction consulting and project management firm based in Princeton, N.J. He most recently served as regional vice president for the firm’s Mid-Atlantic Region. Amirkhalili, a 14-year firm veteran, started as a technical staff member in the Washington, D.C., office. Hanscomb Faith & Gould is part of the WS Atkins group of companies.

HNTB Corp., a Kansas City, Mo.-based infrastructure firm that offers comprehensive design, engineering and planning services, has hired Angela Gittens as vice president of airport business services. Prior to joining the firm, she served as director of the Miami-Dade County Aviation Dept., responsible for Miami International Airport, three general aviation airports and two training airports.

Douglas Otte has been appointed vice president/general manager for the Texas Region of Panattoni Construction Inc., a design-build contractor, based in Sacramento, Calif. He will be based in the Dallas office. Formerly, Otte was employed by Manhattan Construction in Texas and prior to that served as vice president of construction for Opus, where he opened the firm’s Dallas office.

Schirmer Engineering Corp., Torrance, Calif., has appointed Edward L. Fixen as vice president. He will be responsible for business development for the western region offices. Previously, he served as the managing director for Schirmer’s Los Angeles regional office for 10 years.

FRANKEL

Parsons Brinkerhoff, an international consulting, engineering and program management firm, based in New York City, has named Emil H. Frankel as a principal consultant with PB Consult, the management and strategic consulting unit of the PB organization. He also will be a senior vice president of PB. Frankel formerly was assistant secretary for transportation policy at the U.S. Dept. of Transportation.
